Tom founded the firm in 2004 after working for the fifth largest accounting firm in the world; Grant Thornton and other regional CPA firms, along with the position of Corporate Tax Director of a Multi-National corporation. Being a business owner himself, Tom understands the delicate balance between business and personal life. He strives to help clients improve this balance with back office support and technology solutions. Working with business owners, he utilizes the latest technology and strategic planning to accomplish their personal and business goals, maximize profits and minimize taxes.
Tom was also previously on staff at The State University of New York at Stony Brook and St. Joseph’s College teaching auditing, accounting and tax courses at the bachelors and Master’s Degree levels. He enjoys spending quality time with his wife and kids, going to the beach, watching sports and supporting Charitable causes.
Renee graduated from Hofstra University in May 1993, receiving a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting. She began her career in public accounting and became a Certified Public Accountant in July 1998.
As an Accounting Manager for SMG (Worldwide Entertainment and Convention Management), Renee was given the opportunity to work at Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum for five years until leaving to start a family. Upon returning to the workforce, Renee joined the Thomas Brown, CPA PC team in 2013.
Renee has been a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants since March 2000.
Suzann began her career as an auditor with Peat, Marwick, Mitchell & Co., now known as KPMG, in NYC. From there she went to work at the Lincoln Savings Bank as Manager of Financial Reporting. After a brief hiatus to start a family, her career path took her back to Public Accounting. She worked for 15 years as a consultant for Comprehensive Financial Services serving local businesses accounting and tax needs.
Suzann has been a member of the Thomas Brown CPA, PC team since December 2006. She is involved in various accounting and taxation services for both corporate and individual clients.
Suzann holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting from St. John’s University where she graduated Magna Cum Laude.
Helen Schneider is a graduate of The Long Island Business Institute. She has been in the bookkeeping field for over 35 years. During that time she has worked in private industry, as well as the public accounting sector. Helen has extensive knowledge in the QuickBooks accounting and bookkeeping programs that are the gold standard throughout the industry. She has expertise in preparing quarterly and annual payroll tax and sales tax returns. She excels at the preparation of monthly bank reconciliations, payroll, and accounts payable and receivable. She has been with the Thomas Brown CPA firm since 2014.
